Maudsley's side begin their league campaign at home to Brixton Topcats |
Derby Trailblazers head coach Jamie Maudsley has hailed his side's defensive strength after an emphatic win over Wellingborough in the EBL Cup. Derby booked a place in the third round with a 103-60 away win over the Phoenix on Sunday. Maudsley told the club website: "It's always nice to win. "The guys responded to our focus on defensive intensity, we held them to just five field goals in the whole of the second half." Maudsley continued: "I thought we performed well for spells and I was delighted that we held them to seven points in the fourth quarter." Derby will now face Sheffield Arrows in the third round on 31 October. They begin their league campaign with a home match against Brixton Topcats on Saturday.
