Coach Paul James says he expects more signings this summer |
Worcester Wolves coach Paul James has signed guard Callum Jones. The 24-year-old, who is 6ft 5in, has represented England at Under-16, 18 and 20 levels and will be pushing for a senior call-up next summer. Wolves and England coach James told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "I think he's got a great opportunity. "He almost got a late call up for our final tournament in Belfast coming up. There were just a few players ahead of him I wanted to look at first." He continued: "But I'm going to get to spend a lot of time with Callum over the next nine months and I'm sure by the time I've finished with him he'll be knocking on the door for an England senior spot. | I think he's going to be a handful in the BBL Worcester and England coach Paul James |
"He handles the ball very well, he can create shots for himself and his team-mates, so he's got a lot of facets to his all-round game and I think he's going to be a handful in the BBL." Jones has spent the last four years at university in the United States after playing for Manchester Magic. He is the younger brother of James Jones, who played under his new coach at Guildford during the 2007/8 Trophy and play-off Championship winning season. Jones is the Wolves' fifth signing of the summer with 6ft 9in American centre Justin Dobbins joining three of last year's stars Rod Middleton, Kastytis Normantas and Daniel Gilbert.
