Derby now face Taunton Tigers in the Championship play-offs

Derby Trailblazers have been crowned EBL Division One champions after they beat Bristol Flyers on the final day of the season.

The Trailblazers' 82-76 home win together with a defeat for Leeds Carnegie in Manchester meant Derby secured the title on Saturday.

Coach Clarence Wiggins told the club website: "It's just terrific.

"It's an outstanding achievement and to win it at home, in front of our fans, made it even more tremendous."

Throughout the game, Derby's players and coaches had been oblivious to what was going on in Manchester.

Wiggins added: "I certainly didn't want to know and I didn't want the players to be thinking about anything other than getting the job done at Moorways.

"The first we knew about it was when the announcement came over the PA and then the place just went wild."

Derby will now look to add to their silverware when they face Taunton Tigers in the quarter-finals of the Championship play-offs at home on Saturday.
