McLaughlin-Williams top scored for the Flyers with 26 points |
Bristol Flyers have held onto second spot in EBL Division One with a 86-82 win at Teesside Valley Mohawks. The Mohawks took a 50-44 half-time lead after the Flyers led 25-20 at the end of the first quarter. The teams were tied at 79 going into the final 90 seconds following a pair of Tees Valley free-throws. But further scores from Flyers pair Tyrone Treasure and Doug McLaughlin-Williams wrapped things up for the Bristol side. "Despite not having a good game, we secured an important win due to our defensive commitment in the last period," said Flyers coach Andreas Kapoulas. "Our defensive effort was not good in the first half of the game and we allowed to Tees Valley to grow confidence. "Its not a bad thing to have close games as it is a good preparation for the five tough remaining league fixtures but also the playoffs." McLaughlin-Williams led the Flyers scoring with 26 points, with captain Greg Streete adding 15 and Treasure 14.
