Power forward Dzaflo Larkai has left Everton Tigers.

Londoner Larkai, 28, has activated a clause in his contract and accepted an offer to spend the remainder of this season playing in Japan.

Head coach Tony Garbelotto said: "We're naturally disappointed that Dzaflo has decided to take the option to move away to Japan.

"But I guess this is a reflection of how highly he is regarded. He has been an important part of the team."

Garbelotto added: "With James Jones back to fitness, and Kevin Bell not too far away, I'm confident we can keep the momentum of the season going.

"We will be reviewing our options to strengthen our squad, to make sure we can still be in contention as the battle for play-off positions builds up."
