Boyd is the Great Britain first choice point guard

Newcastle Eagles have signed Great Britain point guard Flinder Boyd.

Boyd, 29, has vast experience of European and US basketball and Eagles player-coach Fab Flournoy is keen to see the impact he can make at the club.

"Flinder is a player I have been keen to sign for a little while now," Flournoy confirmed.

"He is a respected player and the type of character that is going to fit into our system and the type of guy that makes players around him better."

Boyd has previous experience of the British Basketball League with the Leicester Riders, as well as with the Great Britain team.

And having recovered from injury suffered with the Riders, Boyd is now fit and ready to feature for the Eagles, and expected to make his debut against Plymouth on Thursday, 28 January.
