Boyd has only played in Britain for two months despite being a GB player

Leicester Riders point guard Flinder Boyd is to miss the remainder of the BBL season because of injury, BBC Radio Leicester reports.

The United States-born Great Britain international, who signed for the Riders in January, is due to undergo a hernia operation on Thursday.

Boyd told BBC Radio Leicester: "It's really disappointing.

"I thought I could help the team at least secure a top-four place but you can't change what's happened."

Meanwhile, the Riders beat Worthing Thunder 83-64 at home on Saturday.

They are a win away from sealing a place in the BBL play-offs and face Plymouth on Saturday.

The Riders are in joint fourth place with Plymouth on 34 points.
