Harry Disy top scored for Wolves with 30 points |
Worcester Wolves held off a Leicester fightback to eventually defeat the Riders 113-111 and record their second BBL win of the season. Wolves led by 14 with just 3.54 seconds remaining but a furious finish saw the visitors close to one point before a Chey Christie free throw sealed the win. Tack Minor had the final chance to tie or win for the Riders but his last gasp shot was blocked. A high-scoring first quarter saw the Riders edge ahead 34-30. Wolves tied it up at 47-47 but Leicester again took the lead to hold a 51-49 advantage at half time. The match was evenly poised at 69-68 late in the third quarter until a 9-3 end to the period by Wolves handed them a healthy seven-point cushion with 10 minutes remaining. It seemed as though Wolves were destined for a comfortable win after good play from Harry Disy and Evaldas Zabas, but Minor, with help from Bradd Wierzbicki gave Riders hope. But it was not to be, as first Terrell Saunders and then Christie kept their nerve from the line.
