Anthony Paez
Anthony Paez again led the Wolves scorers

Worcester Wolves had a weekend of mixed fortunes by beating the BBL leaders before losing at home 24 hours later.

Bottom-of-the-table Wolves pulled off the shock of the season so far with a 106-101 win over Everton Tigers.

Anthony Paez returned a 30-point haul as Worcester lifted themselves off the foot of the division.

But hopes of back-to-back wins ended the next night as Newcastle came away from Worcester University with a 108-88 victory to go top themselves.

Paez again contributed 30 points but the Wolves never managed to recover from a slow start as Newcastle stormed into 18 - 5 lead after the first four minutes of the game.

Wolves tried to get back into the match but their cause was not helped by them conceding 41 free throws and turning the ball over 23 times - compared to 19 free throws and 10 turnovers by the visitors.

Centre Justin Brown was named man of the match for the Wolves for his 22 points which including 18 rebounds.

For the third game running Harry Disy was to return a double double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Wolves next face a trip to Worthing Thunder on 2 November before taking on London Capital at home a day later.
