Sullivan has represented England and Team GB at international level |
Newcastle Eagles have re-signed Great Britain power forward Andrew Sullivan from Belgian Euroleague side Dexia Mons-Hainaut on a two-month deal. The London-born 28-year-old, who won every available honour in his previous two-year spell on Tyneside, admitted it was an easy decision to return. "I love Newcastle, the team and the city and it is home for me," he said. I could have gone somewhere else and there were opportunities but this is a great win-win opportunity." Sullivan becomes coach Fab Flournoy's fourth signing along with Trey Moore, Reggie Jackson and Tafari Toney and goes into the squad for the Friday's curtain-raiser with rivals Guildford Heat. The Team GB star has vast European experience with Dutch giants EiffelTowers and Spanish side Joventut Badalona and admitted although he sees the Euroleague as his long-term aim, he is looking forward to showing fans he is committed to the Eagles cause. | 606: DEBATE What will Sullivan bring to the Eagles side? |
"I get to play in a situation that is familiar and I get to compete in the BBL again while I see if an offer for Europe is forthcoming," he said. "The fact is that it is only a two month contract shouldn't take anything away from Eagles or the BBL. I have never been happier than when I was in Newcastle previously."
