Great Britain's women faded after a bright start against Israel in Cardiff to suffer a 100-80 defeat in their EuroBasket qualifier. Mark Clark's side led by 11 early on and were 42-37 ahead midway through the second quarter. However, Israel then hit 20 unanswered points and were 81-60 in front by the close of the third, paced by 20 from Meirav Dori. Megan Moody hit 17 for GB. Britain now have a 1-3 record and are in danger of relegation to Division B. Ukraine, who have already beaten GB in this current campaign, visit Cardiff on Saturday. Meanwhile, Great Britain's men will be without Kieron Achara for their EuroBasket qualifiers, which begin against Israel on 3 September. The Scottish forward has withdrawn after agreeing a move to Italian club Fortitudo Bologna, leaving head coach Chris Finch with just 12 players available for his team's warm-up friendlies in Turkey.
