Brighton Bears won the BBL Cup for the second time in three years when they outlasted Scottish Rocks 90-74 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham. Their Barbados international Andrew Alleyne, who led all scorers with 27 points, was named most valuable player.
Brighton established a vital 10-point lead in the third quarter but the Rocks stayed resolute to the end.
Ryan Huntley added 22 points for Brighton, while Donald Cole led the Rocks' efforts with 22 points.
"Andrew was awesome," said Bears coach Nick Nurse. "He went to the basket hard all game and rebounded well.
"He played a little differently today - usually he's not an animal but today he muscled up and could not be stopped."
"The game was won and lost in the second half," added Rocks coach Steve Swanson. "Our rebounding let us down."
