The Sharks run through tactics with head coach Brian Smallworth

The Cornish Sharks will be hoping to keep their winning record against the Plymouth Admirals when they host them at Newquay Sports Centre on Sunday.

The Sharks beat the Admirals three times last season and have been preparing hard for the match.

The Admirals come to the game after coming close to beating conference leaders South Wales Warriors last week.

The Sharks have had nearly a month since their last match in the BAFL's south west conference.

"Both teams are close and there's that bitter rivalry to spark the interest," said Sharks linebacker Levi Gustafson.

"We're going to be up for it and put them down hard, hopefully."

Copley says there is a fierce rivalry between the two teams

The Sharks are only in their second year of football, and have a number of former Admirals players among their number.

That makes the rivalry even more intense, according to the Admirals' running back Nick Copley.

"When they set up a couple of years ago a couple of our players left to go to them and there's been an intense rivalry since then," he said.

The Sharks will stay third in the south west conference table no matter what the result on Sunday.

They have won two and lost of their games, while the Admirals have won one and lost three.

The match kicks off on Sunday 15 June at 1430 BST.
