Scott Eastwood made the most of the testing conditions |
Scott Eastwood won the Open Division of the Earth, Wind and Water Surfabout at St Ouen over the weekend. The competition, part of the five-round European qualifying series, was held in testing conditions. Eastwood mastered the six-foot waves whipped up by gale force winds to take the lead of the series. He beat former Island champion Christian Boletta who came second with Mark Le Moignan and Joe Baker finishing third and fourth. | The experience for the juniors in bigger, powerful surf is invaluable |
Contest organiser David Ferguson said that while conditions were not ideal they were a good learning experience, especially for the younger competitors. "The experience for the juniors in bigger, powerful surf is invaluable," he said. "While they may be finding it really tough, this is where the European Championships are going to be and they may face surf just like this." All divisions where completed over the weekend, with some competitors pulling out due to the adverse conditions. The next round of the qualifying series is on Saturday, 20 June.
