Katie said the win meant she had an especially enjoyable birthday

Ross Rowing Club's rising star Katie Hudd celebrated her 14th birthday with a win at the Bristol Avon Regatta.

Katie partnered her sister Louise to victory in the WJ15 event, even though it was not on the club's original fixtures.

Katie told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "We live only a few miles from the event, so we asked club captain Ian Howell if we could represent the club.

"Winning this race with my sister has really made my birthday," she added.
