Madeline Perry's impressive run at the World Squash Open in Hong Kong came to an end on Friday when she was beaten by top seed Rachael Grinham.

Irish Open champion Perry, who had defeated England's eighth seed Jenny Duncalf in the last 16, put up a great battle against Australian Grinham.

The Banbridge woman led 3-0 in the first game, 4-0 in the second and came back from 3-8 to 8-8 in the third.

However, Grinham won 9-4 9-4 10-8 to qualify for the semi-finals.

Grinham defeated Perry in last year's World Open at the last 16 stage.

The top seed will meet her sister in the semi-finals on Saturday.

Perry had beatem Duncalf 9-0 9-6 8-10 1-9 9-5 in the last 16 after beating Australia's Melissa Martin 9-3 5-9 9-2 9-4 in the first round.

The Northern Ireland player's performance is likely to move her up the world rankings from her current position of 12th.
