GB lose star man Mathews
Dave Mathews
Mathews misses the forthcoming internationals
Great Britain's men's hockey team will begin their preparations for the Olympics without forward Dave Mathews.

The Amsterdam star has a torn muscle that means he will miss the one-off Test against Australia on Thursday.

Mathews, who also misses the Tri-Nations event featuring Australia and Pakistan, will be hoping to prove his fitness in time for Olympic selection.

The series, which will take place in Nottingham, begins on Saturday 5 June with the final game on Friday 11 June.
