| Knights restore London pride ![]() London saved some face after Friday's thrashing London Knights banished the memory of Friday's 7-2 defeat against Belfast Giants on Sunday evening. Knights - unbeaten in their three previous home games - fought back from 2-0 down to hold the reigning Superleague champions to a 3-3 draw at the London Arena. Early on, London looked set for their second drubbing of the weekend at the hands of the Northern Ireland side.
But in-form London defenceman Rich Bronilla narrowed the gap at 18:06 with his sixth goal in five games. Vezio Sacratini then drew the home side level with a 35th-minute strike from the edge of the crease. MacDonald edged Belfast back in front at 44:15, but less than five minutes from time Dennis Maxwell claimed a point for London. He fired the puck through the legs of Giants goalie Ryan Bach while his teammate Sacratini was sitting out a two-minute slashing penalty. Belfast Giants coach Dave Whistle said his team should have taken more advantage of London's shaky start. "In the first period we were way the better team," he said. "We should have been winning four or five nil. We were all over them. "Then all of a sudden they woke up and played well in the second and third periods. But the game should have been out of reach by then." London Knights coach Bob Leslie admitted his side had been weak early on but said they deserved to take a point away from the game. "It takes a lot to collect yourself and get back in the game and we did that." Sheffield success Elsewhere on Sunday, Greg Hadden celebrated his record-breaking 250th Superleague game for Nottingham Panthers by scoring two goals against Bracknell Bees, who were beaten 5-1. Darren Hurley put Bracknell ahead after 92 seconds. Panthers replied in the second period with four unanswered goals from Eric Charron, Marc Hussey, Dody Wood, and Hadden, the ISL's all-time leading goal scorer. Hadden then sealed Nottingham's sixth win of the season over Bracknell with his second goal of the evening at 55:22. Nottingham were les successful on Saturday, when Sheffield Steelers snapped their five-game home winning streak with a 4-1 victory in front of a sell-out crowd at the National Ice Centre. Panthers, who had lost just one of their previous 12 games, seemed to be heading for a shut-out as Mark Dutiaume, Scott Levins and Warren Norris (twice) powered the Superleague leaders into a 4-0 lead. Jim Paek finally put Nottingham on the board at 51:45 before a fight started that would result in four players being ejected by referee Simon Kirkham.
