Champions Belfast Giants responded to a rollicking from coach Dave Whistle by beating London Knights 7-2 on Friday to get their Superleague campaign back on track.

Whistle told his players a few home truths after Belfast were beaten at home by Nottingham Panthers last Sunday to make it just two wins in 10 games.

But they responded superbly on Friday and took the lead inside three minutes through Kory Karlander.

Despite dominating the first period and out-shooting London by a staggering 25-6 Belfast could not add to their tally.

However, goals from Doug MacDonald, captain Paul Kruse and Karlander saw them cruising at 4-0 after two periods.

London replaced netminders in an attempt to stem the flow, with Ake Lilljebjorn taking over from Dave Trofimenkoff.A

And within five minutes they halved the lead as Mark Kolesar and Rich Bronilla scored.

However, Robby Sandrock and Colin Ward restored the Giants' four-goal advantage with Kruse completing the rout with a powerplay goal for the seventh.
