Ukraine outmuscled world champions France 21-18 to take the bronze medal in the women's handball competition. Ukraine employed rough tactics to deny France any space and saw players sent to the sin-bin on seven occasions.
The first half was evenly contested and ended 10-10 but Ukraine pulled away in the second to win the medal.
"There is not much you can do against seven goals defending as though their lives depend on it," said French coach Olivier Krumholz.
Denmark play South Korea in the gold medal match on Sunday.
