Former Plymouth College pupil Cassie Patten is preparing to take on the world's top swimmers ahead of flying out to China. Patten, 21, will be competing in the indoor 800m and the 10km outdoor events at the Beijing Olympic Games. She left Plymouth more than a year ago to train in Manchester as there is not a 50m pool in Devon or Cornwall. Patten came second in the World Open Water Championships at the start of the month to qualify for the Games.
