The Ross J14 quad sculls crew now top their age group nationally |
Ross Rowing Club's junior academy struck gold at Peterborough when they won the J14 quad event. The women's sculls of Rosie Lindley, Kelly Morris, Eleanor Blackwood and Katie Hudd, coxed by Morgan Baynham Williams, took the honours. They were out to prove a point against the same crews that beat them the previous week at Thames Valley Park. This result on Saturday puts the Ross quartet at the top of their age category nationally. Meanwhile, other club members were competing at Ironbridge, with the women's J13 doubles being a particular highlight. Ross' crews of Abi Beddard and Amy Surman, and Zoe Sarjent and Rosie Lindley, both worked through the quarter and semi-finals to meet each other in the final in which Beddard and Surman came through to win. Chris Jones was another Ross success story as he beat a strong Hereford opponent in the final of the J16 single sculls - a win that sees him graduate to the senior ranks at the age of 16. The senior club members were not to be outdone as the coxed four of Steve Tuck, Chris Mellor, Rolland Robinson, Robin Fletcher and Fraser Blackwood won their final over a strong crew from Oxford.
