Jersey's national badminton champion Elizabeth Cann helped England win silver at the European Mixed Team Badminton Championships in Denmark.

Her straight sets win over Poland's Anna Narel on Monday put England into the final which they lost 3-0 to home-team Denmark on Tuesday.

The achievement was an improvement on England's previous bronze medals in European Championships.

It has been the continuation of a welcome return to form for Cann.

Now ranked at world number 25, three-times national champion Cann put in a strong performance in defeating Narel 21-18, 21-8 in the semis. Poland went on to take the bronze medal.

Cann was knocked out in the first round of the All England Championships in Birmingham in March this year.

But she then went on to win the women's singles title at the Finnish International Championships in convincing style at the start of last week.
