Jersey's national badminton champion Elizabeth Cann has been knocked out in the first round of the All England Championships in Birmingham.

Cann was beaten 21-16, 21-12 by China's Jiang Yanjiao in one of the sport's most prestigious events.

Jersey's England youth international Mariana Agathangelou is also out after losing in the women's doubles.

She lost 21-16, 21-19 with her partner Gabrielle White to Imogen Bankier and Sarah Bok in the qualifying rounds.

She had previously lost at the same stage of the mixed doubles with her partner Dean George.
