Olssen withdrawal saddens Douglas

Nathan Douglas

Oxford triple jumper Nathan Douglas has said he is disappointed he will not be competing against reigning Olympic champion Christian Olssen this summer.

The 28-year-old has pulled out of the Beijing Games with a thigh injury and Douglas told BBC Oxford that the event will be poorer without him.

"I want everybody to be there, I want the world's best to be there," he said.

"Olssen has that presence, it makes the competition even more juicy, I hope he makes a speedy recovery."
