Mark Cavendish will no longer be aiming at double Olympic gold |
Manx cycling superstar Mark Cavendish has not been entered into the individual pursuit at the Olympics. The Great Britain selectors chose Steven Burke alongside reigning Olympic and World Champion Bradley Wiggins. Cavendish will instead concentrate on partnering Wiggins in the 50km madison, which reaches its finale next Tuesday morning (19 August), in Beijing. Cavendish made history last month by becoming the first Briton to win three stages of the same Tour de France.
