Coley helped Richard Faulds to Olympic gold at Sydney in 2000
Team GB's shooting coach Ian Coley has revealed how Sir Clive Woodward is helping him pass on better advice.
Woodward, who is Britain's director of Olympic performance, chose shooting as his guinea pig ahead of 2012.
"Sir Clive's been helpful in trying to help us with our coaching techniques," Coley told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.
"He openly says he knows nothing about shotgun shooting, but with his skills we've found it enlightening into how we can improve our coaching."
Incorporating some of the methods and approaches he used to guide England to win the Rugby World Cup in 2003, Woodward has worked with Coley since March 2009.
He has focussed on improving success in lower profile sports, rather than looking at sports such as rowing and cycling where medals were plentiful in Beijing in 2008.
The surprising thing to Coley was that as Britain looks to finish high in the medal table, winning has not been Woodward's target:
"He asked us to break down our shooting in to eight major parts, his view of this is that if we get these eight parts correct every time then every time we should come out as winners," said Coley.
"He has a very different mindset - not so much thinking of winning, but doing everything right means we will get the results that we need."
