Teenager beats top pentathletes

Pentathlete Freyja Prentice continued her recent good form by beating Olympic silver medallist Heather Fell to come fourth at the Bath International.

Only 48 hours after landing back in the UK from the Mexico World Cup event - where she finished 10th - Prentice, 18, was the highest placed Brit.

Prentice was the fastest athlete on the newly amalgamated run/shoot section.

"I had a good swim, ride and combined event but I've never fenced that badly in my life," she admitted.

Britain's world number three Katy Livingston came sixth, while Hungary's Leila Gyenesei took the title from the Czech pair of Natalie Dianova and Sylvie Cerna.

Fell said: "It was a positive result for me in a young and enthusiastic field.

"I had five months out after the Olympics so I've only been back in training for two months."

The men go into action on Friday, with 2007 World and European champion Viktor Horvath the leading contender.
