Bath head coach Steve Meehan has questioned James Haskell's decision to move from Wasps to Stade Francais.
The 24-year-old England international flanker has reportedly been reconsidering his move to Paris and speculation has linked him with Bath.
Former Stade coach Meehan rejected the rumours, but criticised the move.
"I'd suggest the infrastructure at a Premiership club or the Ospreys, which is another club mentioned, would be stronger," Meehan told BBC Points West.
"My fears for players of that nature, that stature and with that potential is that they want to make sure the infrastructure at whatever club they're going to is 100%.
"It's been three seasons since I was there so things could have changed drastically in that time, but I was simply warning him to have a look at these things," he added.
Speculation surrounding a possible Haskell U-turn has intensified since he lost his England place to Tom Croft during the Six Nations.
And a potential move to the West country increased after the player was seen in deep conversation with Meehan, who spent four years on the coaching staff at Stade, after Bath beat Wasps 22-14 in the Premiership.
But Meehan added: "He made his decision to go to Paris some time back and as far as I'm aware he's still heading in that direction.
"After he made the initial announcement of where he was going we were talking with other players and we haven't gone back down that track.
"To see him at The Rec next year it will have to be a Heineken Cup clash between Bath and Stade Francais I would suggest."
