Derry's hurlers crashed out of the 2009 Christy Ring Cup as Shane Brick bagged a match-winning 15 points for Kerry in the quarter-final at Mullingar.

Kerry were ahead 1-6 to 0-8 at half-time, but a determined Derry hit back.

Goals from Ruairi Convery and Malachy Scullion saw the Ulster county establish a lead of 2-9 to 1-9.

But a brace of second-half goals from John Mike Dooley and the continued efforts of free-taker Brick ensured the Kingdom claimed the semi-final place.
