Armagh's Paul Breen battles with Donegal's Conor McLaughlin

Armagh defeated Donegal 3-24 to 2-12 in Sunday's Ulster Senior Hurling Championship clash at Letterkenny.

The sides were level at half-time, 2-6 to 1-9 with Lee Henderson and Kieran Matheson scoring Donegal's goals.

Cathal Carville hit two Armagh goals while Paul Breen notched the Orchard County's other goal as they pulled clear in the second half.

Donegal's woes were compounded as they had Joe Boyle sent off in the second half for two yellow cards.

The 15-point victory earns Armagh an Ulster quarter-final meeting against Down.

A third goal from Cathal Carville cemented victory for the Orchard County after he rounded Kieran Kelly but this game wasn't all about the eventual winners as the hosts made a positive start and held a six point lead early in the second quarter.

Donegal bossed the early stages and they bagged two goals before the interval with Matheson and Henderson both on target.

However, Armagh had levelled by the interval, helped by Carville's opening goal, after sustained pressure.

In the second half a forceful Armagh made full use of a strong wind advantage as Donegal found it harder to get scores.

Armagh kept their foot on the accelerator throughout the second half and Breen struck the Orchard County's third goal.
