Sean Cavanagh and Raymond Mulgrew scored Tyrone's goals |
Tyrone are still without a win in Division One of the league after a two-point defeat at Pearse Stadium. A goal and a free from Michael Meehan gave Galway a flying start but Sean Cavanagh took a pass from Raymond Mulgrew to score a goal for Tyrone.
Owen Mulligan set up Mulgrew for Tyrone's other goal in the second half to level the match at 1-7 each.
Galway full-forward Meehan ended on 1-5 and midfielder Niall Coleman got a couple of crucial late points.
So Mickey Harte's side have just one point from their three fixtures, that coming in the opening draw with Kildare.
Tyrone had fought hard to get their noses in front late in the game, Mulligan and Tommy McGuigan landing great points from play.
That had the Red Hands 2-9 to 1-11 ahead but Coleman, corner-back Gary Sice and Meehan swung the match in Galway's favour.
Tyrone's Sean Cavanagh said their next league match, at home to Laois on 15 March, was a must-win fixture.
"That one is like a Championship match for us because we want to stay in Division One," said the half-forward.
"We have to win and all the players know that.
"Hopefully we can get a couple of our injured players back and turn our season around."
