Joe McMahon had surgery in Munich last month |
Joe McMahon could be back in action for Tyrone's National Football League game on Sunday week after undergoing surgery for a long-standing groin problem. McMahon is back in training with the squad, and has a couple of challenge games under his belt as he strives for a return to full fitness.
"I might be ready to play against Limerick," he said.
"I have played a challenge game with the club and a practice game with Tyrone and it has gone okay."
McMahon underwent surgery on a chronic groin injury in Germany last month.
He had been suffering with a groin problem for a number of months and when his rehabilitation regime failed to rectify the problem, Tyrone physio Louis O'Connor sought out the revolutionary surgery in Munich.
Doctors at the hospital guarantee that a player will be back in training within 7-10 days of undergoing the procedure and McMahon returned to training within that timeframe.
Another Tyrone player, Philip Jordan, has also undergone surgery at the same Munich hospital on a groin injury, and expects to be back in action next month.
Tyrone have already been boosted by the return from long-term injury of Brian Dooher and Conor Gormley, with Brian McGuigan also set to come back following a broken leg before the end of the Division 1A campaign.
But those positive developments have been offset by a number of fresh injuries.
Midfielder Sean Cavanagh is likely to be out for up to eight weeks with a foot problem and full-back Cormac McGinley sustained a calf strain in last Saturday's home defeat by Donegal.
