Quartet in race for Orchard post
Michael McConville
Michael McConville is in the running for the Armagh job
There are four contenders to take over from Joe Kernan as the new Armagh senior football manager.

Former Crossmaglen Rangers boss Michael McConville and U21 manager Peter McDonnell are believed to be among the quartet interviewed for the job.

Paul Grimley and John Rafferty, selectors under Kernan, complete the candidate list.

County chairman Kevin Brady said the new manager would be named later this month or early in September.

Kernan resigned as Armagh manager last month in the wake of the team's exit from the championship.

The Orchard men were defeated by Donegal in the Ulster SFC before Derry beat Kernan's team in the All-Ireland qualifiers.

Armagh won their first All-Ireland title in 2002 in Kernan's first year in charge and they lost out to Tyrone in the decider 12 months later.

The Crossmaglen man also guided Armagh to four Ulster SFC triumphs and a national league title in 2005.
