Omagh CBS won last year's MacRory Cup final |
St Michael's Enniskillen and Omagh CBS are to replay their MacRory Cup tie with the game likely to be take place in the middle of next week. The Fermanagh school contacted the Ulster Colleges body on Wednesday and their offer of a replay was accepted by the provincial body and Omagh CBS.
The Ulster Colleges has reissued a suspension letter concerning St Michael's captain Shane McAloon.
However, St Michael's will appeal the ban to the All-Ireland Colleges body.
There had been fears the controversy could have led to the showpiece MacRory Cup final occasion having to be put back from its normal St Patrick's Day date.
The Ulster body had intended to ban McAloon following a brawl at the original drawn game between the schools but he played after the wrong name was included in the letter detailing the suspension.
It is understood that St Michael's took the decision to offer Omagh a replay after a meeting of the school's board of governors on Tuesday evening.
The winners of this Saturday's MacRory Cup quarter-final replay between St Colman's Newry and St Louis Kilkeel at Newcastle (1300 GMT) will face either St Michael's or Omagh CBS in the semi-finals of the Bank of Ireland-sponsored competition.
The first semi-final between Abbey CBS and Magherafelt will be played on Saturday in Dungannon (noon).
