Donegal and Meath have become the latest counties to throw their weight behind changes to open up Croke Park on a temporary basis to other sports. The decision of Donegal to back the idea to give Central Council the power to lease out Croke Park on a temporary basis, is not a major surprise.
Delegates voted 29-23 in support of a Congress motion to change Rule 42 to allow other sports to use Croke Park.
The Meath board voted 51 to seven in favour of the change.
Congress will discuss the vexed issue on the weekend of 15-16 April.
The news from Donegal and Meath's comes on the back of last week's surprise decision from the Tipperary board to support the proposals to allow HQ to open their doors to rugby and football while Lansdowne Road is being redeveloped.
Both Meath and Donegal have voted against opening Croke Park in the past and their voting power at the GAA's annual congress could prove to be significant.
Meath have one of the largest voting blocks at Congress with 11 votes, while Donegal have seven.
