Croke Park is now an ultra-modern 80,000-seater stadium

The original motions from the counties calling for the controversial Rule 42 to be overturned were in severe danger of being ruled out of order.

There were fears that chances of rugby and football being played at Croke Park would be wrecked by red tape.

The deadline set had enabled changes to be made to make the motions eligible.

The final decision on which motions can be debated at the GAA Congress will be made next Tuesday, 15 February.

There have been some suggestions that counties could consider taking the motions issue to the Irish courts if they are prevented from debating Rule 42 at this year's Congress.

Calls to open Croke Park have increased since it emerged that rugby and soccer internationals might have to be played in Britain during the redevelopment of Lansdowne Road which is scheduled to start in 2006.
