Mickey Harte's Tyrone played UUJ under lights at Carrickmore
Tyrone ensured their place in the McKenna Cup final by defeating UUJ 1-12 to 0-7 in Wednesday's game against against UUJ.

The match was the first occasion the Ulster Council had given the go-ahead for an official match under lights.

Over 2,000 people turned up at Carrickmore and the match was delayed because of the large attendance.

The impressive Brian McGuigan scored the only goal of the game two minutes into the second half.

Tyrone led 0-7 to 0-5 after a tight first half but the Poly players appeared to tire in the second half.

Kevin Hughes had a fine game at midfield for Tyrone while Brian Dooher got on the scoresheet after being introduced as a substitute.

Colm McCullagh also notched a couple of points for the Red Hands.

The All-Ireland champions will meet the winners of next week's semi-final between Donegal and Down in the decider.
