Declan McCrossan doing a post-graduate course in London |
Defender Declan McCrossan will not be available to help Tyrone retain their All-Ireland title this season. London-based McCrossan is studying a post-graduate teaching diploma and his absence will be a blow to manager Mickey Harte.
McCrossan is also habouring niggling injury problems which also helped him in his decision to opt out.
McCrossan's news comes on the back of the unavailability of skipper Peter Canavan who to have ankle surgery.
Edna McGinley is still recovering from an injury picked up the All-Ireland final while Ryan Mellon is suffering from the viral infection which finished his chances of featuring last year.
Although McCrossan did not feature in the Championship starting line-up, his absence from the squad will be missed.
The 24-year-old plans to see a specialist next month, and then rest up to allow the injury to heal.
