Crossmaglen's class tells

Favourites Crossmaglen overcame a half-time deficit to clinch their place in the semi-finals of the Ulster Club football championship.

Oisin McConville starred with two goals and seven points for Crossmaglen who play Derry champions Loup in the last four.

Killyclogher, Tyrone champions for the first time, needed to build up a first half lead as they had the advantage of the wind.

They got the first score after just two minutes when Ciaran Carland pointed, and soon afterwards Leo Meenan landed a free.

However, Rangers hit back through a point from corner-forward Michael McNamee and an Oisin McConville free.

Gary Martin then edged Killyclogher ahead with a point before scoring the first goal of the game when a drilled right-foot shot.

Rangers got a penalty when corner-forward McNamee was impeded as he charged towards goal after taking a ball over the top from Anthony Cunningham. Oisin McConville slotted the ball low into the net

Carland landed a free just before the break to give Killyclogher a 1-04 to 1-03 lead at half-time.

Rangers were reduced to 14 men when Cormac Clarke picked up a second yellow for a foul challenge.

Aaron Kernan, son of Armagh boss Joe, and McConville landed frees to edge Rangers into the lead before Peter O'Kane got a point for Killyclogher after a great save by Paul Hearty denied Leo Meenan a goal.

McConville then pounced for a close-range goal and added another free to leave Crossmaglen 2-07 to 1-05 in front.

McNamee from play and a McConville free stretched the Rangers lead before Carland scored what was only Killyclogher's second point of the half.

McConville then completed the scoring with another free for Crossmaglen.

"We went into this game as overwhelming favourites and in that position it is difficult to get credit," said man-of-the-match McConville.

"We will now be up against a very good Loup team but we will have renewed confidence after this.

"Hopefully this game will be a building block for us and we can go on and show the true Cross."
