Sean Boylan has been in charge of Meath since 1982 |
Long-serving Meath boss Sean Boylan is to face a challenge from Dunshaughlin club manager Eamonn Barry for the position.
Boylan, who has been in charge of the Royals since 1982, was challenged by Barry last year but comfortably retained the position.
However, Barry is making a renewed attempt to take the job after being nominated by six clubs.
Barry led Dunshaughlin to their third successive Meath senior title last year as well as the Leinster club championship although they are out of contention for this season's county series.
He is also thought to be in the frame for the vacant Westmeath job following the departure of Luke Dempsey.
Meath were defeated by Fermanagh in this year's All-Ireland Qualifiers after losing against Kildare in the Leinster Semi-Finals.
Meanwhile, the career of Wexford hurling goalkeeper Damien Fitzhenry is in doubt as he is set to travel to Australia.
Liam Dunne, Larry O'Gorman and Larry Murphy are also thought to be considering their futures in the Wexford hurling set-up.
Meanwhile, John Leahy has ruled himself out of contention for the vacant position of Tipperary hurling manager.
