While Eamon Coleman still seems set to be appointed as the new Cavan football manager, Stephen King has appeared as a late runner.
Cavan officials put on hold announcing Mattie Kerrigan's successor when county officials handed Coleman a two-month suspension.
That originally appeared to indicate that Coleman was the man for the job once his suspension is completed in late October.
But it has now been reported that King was interviewed for the job and one cannot rule him out of the equation.
Coleman was ordered from the dugout while taking charge of Gowna in the Cavan Football semi-final against Cavan Gaels which eventually ended in a draw.
Coleman apparently got involved in an incident which culminated with a Cavan Gaels player being sent off by referee Joe McQuillan.
The former All-Ireland winning manager was reported for verbal abuse of the referee.
Coleman had also been linked with Sligo job following the resignation of Peter Forde but James Kearins was appointed to the Yeats County post earlier last week.
Meanwhile, Cavan footballer Dermot McCabe is set to have a groin operation in the coming weeks but will be fit for the start of the National League in February.
