Cavan problems mount

Mattie Kerrigan's side face Antrim at Casement Park
Cavan boss Mattie Kerrigan could also be without Jason Reilly

Cavan boss Mattie Kerrigan has left two vacancies in his side for Sunday's Bank of Ireland Ulster Football Championship game against Antrim.

Definitely out is Gerald Pearson, while question marks hang over Jason Reilly and Joey Jordan.

If Jordan recovers from a groin problem he will make his senior championship debut alongside Mark McKeever, Sean Maguire and Paul Brady.

Pearson, who scored 10 points in last season's opener against Donegal, was suffered an arm injury in a car accident, and will not even feature on the Cavan substitutes for the Casement Park contest.

Reilly is rated as extremely doubtful after being troubled by ankle ligament damage in recent weeks.

Defender Michael Brides is also sidelined with a muscle injury while Eamon Reilly and Colm Hannon are also unavailable because of study commitments.

Cavan: A Donohoe; C Collins, T Prior, AN Other; A Forde, P Reilly, capt, M McKeever; D McCabe, S Maguire, P Brady; L Reilly, P McKenna; M Graham, AN Other, P Gilligan.

Meanwhile, Leitrim footballer Ciaran Murray has been hit with a 70-hour community service order and handed a $250 fine arising from a bomb hoax joke which he made in New York earlier this month.

Murray's legal team persuaded the prosecutor to reduce the charge of filing a false incident report, which carries a possible seven-year jail term, to the less serious offence of disorderly conduct.

Corcoran loses appeal

The incident happened on 5 May when Murray was checking into JFK Airport as the Leitrim team and officials returned from New York after they had won a Connacht SFC match.

Meanwhile, Tipperary's half back Eamonn Corcoran's appeal against the 12-week suspension imposed on him by the GAC has been ruled out of order.

The Tipperary county claimed the red card Corcoran had been shown in a NHL match against Galway was given on the basis of information supplied by the fourth official.

The latest ruling means Corcoran will miss the majority of Tipperary's All-Ireland campaign.

He missed Sunday's surprise defeat by Clare on Sunday and will be unavailable for the first and second rounds of the All-Ireland qualifiers, which are scheduled for 7 June and 12 July.
