John Paul McBride failed to make an impression at the Brandywell

Derry City snatched a draw in Tuesday night's Eircom League Cup game at Ballybofey.

Paddy McLaughlin netted the 79th minute equaliser after Eloka Asokuh had given Harps a 42nd minute lead.

Five-times winners Derry are part of a three-team group which also includes Monaghan Town.

Meanwhile Derry have released former Celtic and St Johnstone midfielder John Paul McBride.

The 24-year-old joined the Candystripes in March but he failed to make a major impression for a struggling Derry City team.

Derry lost their opening four Eircom League games but manager Kevin Mahon is hoping his team have turned the corner after claiming a win and a draw in their last two league matches.
