Glenavon win at last
Glenavon manager Alfie Wylie
Alfie Wylie celebrated his first league win as manager of Glenavon

Glenavon 3-0 Ards

Glenavon won for the first time in the league in 2003 thanks to three fine second half goals against Ards.

The Lurgan side had not won a Premier Division fixture since a 3-2 success over Newry Town on 14 December.

The Lurgan Blues had taken just three points out of the last possible 33 and a victory looked like eluding them again after a dull first half ended goal-less.

But Glenavon were a different side in the second period.

They took a 52nd minute lead when Paul Keenan dived to head in a Sean Collins cross.

Then Marc McCann scored a beauty to make it 2-0 on 63 minutes.

McCann struck again five minutes from time to leave Alfie Wylie celebrating his first league victory in charge at Mourneview Park.
