Antrim's Dinny Cahill saw his side win by four points |
Down 1-13 Antrim 2-14
Two late Antrim goals sealed a four-point win over Down in a highly-charged Division 2A game in the National Hurling League.
Both teams had a player sent-off in the first half at Portaferry where underdogs Down gave a good account of themselves.
In fact, the Mournemen had led in the second half but they could not hold on for what would have been a surprise victory.
Antrim's Aidan Delargy was the first player dismissed in the 14th minute for striking Stephen Murray with the stick.
But Down were then reduced to 14 men when Liam Clarke was ordered off.
Stephen Clarke scored a first half goal for Down who trailed 1-04 to 10 points at the break.
Down rattled over five unanswered points to edge in front but two goals in the last five minutes swung the contest the way of the Saffrons.
Liam Watson set up Sean Delargy for Antrim's first goal and Brian McFall got the second in injury-time.
