| Sunday, 16 February, 2003, 13:55 GMT Everitt strike give Irish a draw Scotland 'A' 22-22 Ireland 'A'
London Irish fly-half Barry Everitt converted a late penalty to give Ireland a share of spoils in the 'A' international at Stirling on Saturday night. Earlier Rob Henderson scored two tries with Ulster wing James Topping touching down for another in an entertaining close affair at Bridgehaugh. Ireland trailed 12-5 at half-time and ended the half with 14 men when Jeremy Staunton was yellow-carded for a deliberate knock-on. However, within minutes of the re-start they had drawn level thanks to Topping's try and an Everitt conversion. Ireland then went into the lead with Henderson's second converted try to give his side a 19-12 lead. The Scots, who had two Jason White tries in the first half, equalised through a James McLaren try and Duncan Hodge conversion. However, Hodge landed a penalty that looked to be taking Scotland to victory only for Everitt to convert his late effort to square the game at the death. |
