Kerry rift healed

The crisis in Kerry football has ended.

The two-week rift between Kerry manager Paidi O Se and trainer John O'Keeffe was heeled on Monday night.

O'Keefe accepted an unconditional apology from O Se who also issued a second apology to Kerry supporters.

The ''Peace Agreement'' was announced by Kerry County chairman Sean Walsh who said the last two weeks have been the most trurbulent ever in Kerry football.

The row began with O Se making what was conceived as derogatory remarks about Kerry supporters, and saying that he would be taking the fitness training.

Walsh read out prepared statements during a press conference in Tralee.

O'Keeffe, who had missed the Kerry team's trip to South Africa, said in his statement that he will continue with the Kerry senior team.

''I am pleased to confirm that I will continue to act as a physcial trainer/selector to the Kerry senior football team.

''I welcome the unequivocal statement from Paidi O Se confirming his total confidence in me.

''I am grateful to note his remarks confirming the physical training programmes I have prepared and implemented as being consistently appropriate and effective.''

O Se said that he had every confidence in O'Keeffe's ability.

''John O'Keeffe is a man of the highest integrity and I confirm that I have total confidence in him as a trainer/selector of the Kerry team,'' he said in his statement.

''I specifically confirm that the physical training programmes he has prepared and implemented are consistently appropriate and effective.

''I particulatrly value the unstinting support he has given me in my role as manager.''

In another statement, O'Se apologised to the supporters saying that the language used was ill-chosen, inappropriate and offensive.''
