Three of the Ulster Club champions will be newcomers to senior football when Tyrone travel to Brewster Park on Sunday. All told there are four debutants in Harte's opening gambit since he was charged with leading Tyrone over a new horizon last November. The three Errigal players called up are Harte's son Mark, midfielder Peter Loughran, and centre-back Paul Horisk who come in alongside Ardboe's Gavin Devlin. Other Errigal players include Peter Canavan, John Devine, Cormac McGinley and Enda McGinley. The younger Harte won November's Bass Merit Award with his scoring exploits and was an integral part of the Tyrone club side's charge to the Ulster title this season. A Belfast-based third-year Arts student, Harte's accuracy and scoring instinct has been prevalent in Errigal Ciaran's great run. Missing from the origianl 30-man squad due to injury are Declan McCrossan, Chris Lawn, Brian Dooher, Ciaran Gourley and Seamus Mulgrew.
Fit-again Michael McGee from Loughmacrory also starts for the first time for more than an injury. Meanwhile, Donegal are the fourth county to abandon the O'Neill's strip. Like Laois, Louth and Waterford, Donegal have gone for the Azzurri attire. Azzurri, an Irish-owned company based in Waterford city, were awarded the licence to supply county GAA teams, a right which formerly had been solely held by O'Neill's.
