Lyons shuts door on Gallagher
Rory Gallagher was nominated for an Allstar this season
Rory Gallagher won't be playing for Fermanagh in 2003
Dublin manager Tommy Lyons has shut the door on the prospect of Fermanagh star Rory Gallagher declaring for the Leinster champions.

Gallagher, who is now playing club football for Blanchardstown club St Brigid's, last week revealed that he had quit the Fermanagh county panel.

The Belleek native wouldn't be drawn on whether he would be interested in playing for Dublin but there has been inevitable speculation that he could join the Metropolitans.

However, Lyons rejected the suggestion adding that he wasn't in the business of taking players from the "weaker counties".

"I think it will be a long time before Dublin accept recognised inter-county footballers into our county to try and help us win the All-Ireland," said the Dubs manager.

Guinness sponsorship

"It would be a shallow title, as far as I'm concerned," he said.

Meanwhile, next year's annual Congress in Belfast will hear a motion calling on the GAA to end sponsorship from the drinks industry.

Sunday's Tyrone county convention supported a motion calling for drinks sponsorship to be banned after 2004.

Only four Tyrone club delegates voted against the motion.

A ban on sponsorship from drinks companies would have huge ramifications for the GAA.

Guinness sponsor the All-Ireland Hurling Championship while Harp Lager and Tennents support several county championships in Ulster.
